Kind Of Like Sir Francis Drake
it's hot. and humid. and i am disinclined to anything right now. which is ok because i have had a pretty full weekend and somehow sitting in front of the tv, watching reruns of newsradio, seems to be the perfect way to kill the time. and i can admire the new kicks i got for a really really good price even though wearing them might be overkill since they are lined with cashmere and i hate having hot feet.
i've been mulling over what to write for a while. i could do my typical rundown of the weekend but that is fairly mundane. that said, melissa and i finally went on the hike that we have been talking about for six months thus justifying our weekly plans to go for a hike. we also drank a fair bit of tequila, which has been part of the weekly schedule for the same length of time so i guess on that front i accomplished a lot yesterday. there are some pictures of our hike to the waterfall down below.
i went with michael and adele to visit our grandparents this morning. my grandfather hadn't been feeling well and it was about time i went for a visit so i tagged along with my siblings. it was a typical visit in that there was a lot of medical talk mixed with a healthy dose of crazy. the highlight being my grandmothers conceptual leap from england as a colonizing nation to queen victoria as a bitch and a whore who slept with pirates. it was phenomenal.
on a less hilarious note i got some disturbing news about an old friend which has been hanging over my head for a few days. its nothing that effects me directly but i can't shake it from my mind. my dreams are being haunted and restless sleeps are always upsetting. more importantly, my memories are being tarnished and i really hate that. this is the second time in as many years that i have discovered that a person i thought i knew is completely different from what they portrayed. but what can you do? i've not been hurt by it and being across the pond should dull the situation i guess.
ok, i'm going to leave you with a few things i learned this weekend:
1. i am too old for the madison
2. driving in a convertible with the top down seems like a better idea than it is when the temperature soars above 30
3. lacies are not the best choice of undergarment when hiking
4. "scivvies" is the appropriate word for underwear if they are doubling as a bathing suit when swimming in natural bodies of water
5. one man's pirate is another man's explorer
here are the pictures from hilton falls:

I thought civvies was just a term that referred to anything that wasn't your army uniform. IE Your Civilian Clothing.
Just me?
