The Kogons Take America
last week i told a friend that my family was piling into a mini-van to drive to ohio for the weekend. the incredulous look i received was only topped when i added that i would be sharing a room for two nights with my sister, my brother and my sister-in-law. yup, the kogons were on vacation!
for some reason i always forget that i actually enjoy spending time with my family. i play it down and i anticipate the worst but in the end its always comedy. usually i adopt clothes from my sister and whisper things to make her laugh inappropriately. this time we were too sick to belt out prayers in shul but we made up for it with the diabolical dance moves we rocked saturday night. i didn't steal any clothes from her this trip but i did discover the whereabouts of one of my favourite t-shirts (montreal), and we abandoned her briefly in target.
we were in toledo for my cousin alex's bat mitzvah. she did an amazing job and her speech saturday morning made the whole family choke up (i think that is some sort of dvar torah miracle). it was just too bad that we had used all our kleenex during our embarassing coughing and sniffling bouts.
this past week i've also celebrated my own rite of passage into jewish womanhood. two separate women have teamed up with my mom to set me up with "nice jewish boys." one of them literally pulled me aside to say "i'd like you to meet my son." i mean, i'm in no position to complain, its not like i am meeting nice jewish boys on my own, but the whole thing is so cliche! i love it.
anyway, here are some pics from the weekend:
